How do I make a reservation?

Currently we are taking reservations through Employers. Please contact your Employer to make housing arrangements!

How much does it cost to occupy a dormitory unit?

Subject to change Seasonally! Please contact us for rates.

How do I pay my rent?

Rent may be paid with cash, credit or debit card in the campus office. Two weeks minimum must be paid in advance (a 3% processing fee is added to credit or debit card transactions)

We DO NOT prorate the last weeks rent (you must pay for a full week). You cannot use your security deposit to pay the last week’s rent.

What is security deposit for and do I get it back?

HRH will hold a security deposit of $300, and may apply it toward any damage caused to the unit beyond normal wear and tear, additional cleaning necessary to restore the unit to an acceptable condition or other amounts owed to HRH pursuant to this agreement. An additional $50.00 is a Non Refundable administrative fee.

Do I need to pay for security deposit and rent prior to my arrival?

You pay for security deposit and rent when you check in. When you arrive please have your security deposit and 2 weeks rent ready!

What if I cannot pay my rent on time?

A late fee of $10 will be applied to every day that the rent is late. Hiawatha will lock you and your roommate out of your room if either one of you are late paying rent. Please pay on time.

If after I move in, can I move to a different unit?

​While we would like you to make every effort to get along with your roommates, we realize that time there are times when a move may be necessary. Since moving you to a different room is very time consuming and costly, a $50 transfer fee will be required.

What happens to my deposit if I leave prior to my roommate?

You are responsible for contacting the campus office to do your check out procedure prior to your departure. This way you will not be held responsible for any damages incurred after your departure date.

What are the quiet hours at HRH?

Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 9:00 am.

Can I request a roommate?

Yes of course! Please let us know in advance of arrival so we can make proper arrangements.

What is included?

Electricity, heat, water, trash, and wireless access (Wi-Fi) are included in your rent. One set of linens for your bed, a pillow, blanket, and one set of towels are provided. Laundry facilities are located on campus. Linens, pillow, blanket and towels must remain in unit when you leave or you will be charged for any items missing, up to $100.

Are cookware and dinnerware provided in the kitchens?

HRH does not provide pots, pans, cooking utensils, plates, silverware, cups, etc.

Are there T.V.’s in the rooms?

There are no T.V.’s in the rooms but there is a T.V. in the community building.

Is there housekeeping that comes and cleans our rooms?

Our facility is a dormitory housing. All occupants are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and washing their laundry including towels, linens, and shower curtain. All occupants are also responsible for keeping all our facilities clean including kitchens, recreational lounge area, laundry room, and our outside environment. HRH would like our campus to be a friendly, clean community for everyone’s stay to be enjoyable.

If I smoke cigarettes where can I smoke?

Wisconsin State Law states that there is NO smoking in any buildings and that smoking must be done 15 feet/ 5 meters away from buildings. We have butt cans in designated areas that you may smoke near. Please dispose finished cigarettes into the butt cans so our community and environment stays clean. Thank you!

Do I need to make arrangements for when I check in?

Usually your employer and sponsor will provide us your arrival information. However, please keep our office staff informed on your arrival date and time so we can make arrangements for a check in process. Also, if you will be arriving later than expected due to delays at the airport, train, bus, and or taxi please let us know. You may contact us via email, Facebook, and phone.

What should I do to check out of HRH?

​Please notify the campus office at least 3 days in advance of your check out so that we can begin processing and do a final inspection of your unit. Your room and bathroom must be clean and you must return all towels and bedding (including the pillow) you were provided with upon move in to receive your security deposit. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY OF YOUR DEPOSIT BACK IF YOUR ROOM IS NOT CLEAN AND YOU DO NOT RETURN ALL ITEMS YOU RECEIVED WHEN YOU MOVED IN. If you leave prior to the date you had indicated on your contract you will also not receive your deposit back. You must be current with your rent payment. Deposit may not be used for rent payment. Please remember you must be in good standing with HRH at the end of the season if you want to live at HRH the following season. Violation of these terms will result in notification of your Sponsor and you may be ineligible for future Work and Travel J1 Visa.

Mail and packages will be delivered to the office area. You must present a photo ID to pick up packages. THERE IS A $1 CHARGE FOR EACH PACKAGE. Hiawatha is not responsible for any mail.

What if I do not know my roommate very well and I worry about my personal belongings?

Hiawatha Residence Hall highly recommends you to purchase a lock that can be placed on your locker. Remember, HRH is not responsible for your personal belongings being lost or stolen. The office does sell combination locks for $5.00

Does Hiawatha Residence Hall have bicycles to borrow or sell?

Hiawatha Residence Hall does not have any bicycles. Bicycles may be purchased at Walmart Superstore and other outlets. If you purchase a bike, please make sure to purchase a bicycle lock as well.

Please Note: You will be obligated to pay for the entire length of time you have signed for in your dormitory agreement, even if you move out early.
